Become a rodeo bull rider!

For everyone that dreams of being an astronaut or fireman, there is one that dreams of being a cowboy. The image of rodeo that many people get from the media is a bunch of tough, stupid heathens. That is certainly not true. There are as many types of rodeo cowboys as there are types of football or soccer players. Rodeos have timed events such as calf roping, barrel racing etc. And they have rough-stock events like saddle-bronc riding, bareback riding and bull riding. Timed event cowboys and cowgirls usually live a life style that involves riding horses, working with animals etc. But rough-stock riders see themselves more as athletes than cowboys. They may wear jeans down on their hips; have their ears pierced or even long hair. They may or may not own a horse or live on a farm or ranch. But they train and practice all the time. They go to special weekend or weeklong schools to improve their form, style, or balance. Many colleges, especially in the West offer scholarships to Rodeo Riders.
